I can’t help but feel that something important was lost when the urban fantasy genre flipped from the 1980s “crystal psychics and consulting witches” stuff to the modern “sad vampires in the rain” style. I mean, I appreciate a sad vampire as much as the next person, but I can’t deny that I miss the snarky witches.
