Hello, new Gentle Readers, who may be coming here due to a questionable subscription to the regular blog.
Issue 32, containing: Local Wanderings, Almanac for June-July, A Recipe for the Overheated, Soap, The Reading Society, Commonplaces, &c.
I have spent some small amount of time adding tags to the previous issues, corresponding to the most common article types. Is there an easy way to access these tags? Who knows. Is there a list or cloud somewhere? Only time will tell.
Issue 27, containing: Elements of a Still-Room, Commonplaces (Regarding Grief), Local Wanderings, Commonplaces (Regarding Love), A Dialogue, Letters, Commonplaces (Regarding Hope), &c.
It's an odd time of year, gentle readers, and an odd mood I find myself in. While the calendar in no way suggests it, the air seems set for turning from one year to the next-- a book closing, another opening. I feel like I'm reviewing the reference list of last year, paging through the index to see what, after all, warranted a listing.
Issue 10, containing: On Household Arrangement, Local Wanderings, Classifieds, Letters, Commonplaces, &c.
Because time is a lie on even the best of occasions, last week unfortunately did not have an issue. As such, naturally today's issue is late.
Issue 6, containing: Local Wanderings, A Dialogue (Overheard), Two Views, Arts and Culture, Meditations by a River Side, Letters, Commonplaces, &c.
I am returned from my vacation -- slightly refreshed, but with the curious weight of reentering the normal world (for various definitions of "normal").
Issue 1, containing: Local Wanderings, A Very Pleasant Horoscope, Historical Ephemera, Further Editorial Note, Commonplaces, &c.
A few weeks ago I spent longer than I should browsing through *The lady's magazine : or entertaining companion for the fair sex, appropriated solely to their use and amusement.* A publication that started in the late 1700s, it was an amalgam of -- or early precursor to -- society pages, literary magazines, joke books, local newspapers, educational supplements, and sewing pattern distributors.
