Regarding Galenical and Chymical Pharmacy

Pocket-sized, folded minizine with an introduction to the transition between Galenical humoralism to experiment-based science on one side and a hidden poster on the other.
Regarding Galenical and Chymical Pharmacy is volume 2 of The Apothecary’s Pocket Companion collection, a folded octavo-sized minizine series intended to help others on their journey toward reading, researching, and recreating recipes from the European Scientific Revolution.
Written under the name “M. Hinaccurate”, each minizine is produced in the single-sheet style that folds into an approximately 2”x3” booklet with a front and back cover and 6 interior pages. Each handmade zine in volume 2 contains:
- a brief definition of the European Scientific Revolution;
- summaries and identification guides for Galenical recipes versus those based on scientific experimentation;
- a list of alternate names for alchemy;
- a circular chart of humoral correspondences; and
- a hidden poster showing a quartered illustration of humoral correspondences, from Leonhard Thurneysser’s Quinta Essentia (1574)

Working from my example
The road to experimental archaeology is one of trial and error (mostly error!). Anyone can start experimenting like me — to learn more about the research I’ve been doing that’s led me to writing this pocket guide, you can an index of my write-ups here: Experimental Archaeology.
