I have no idea is this is something that will continue, but sometimes I’m in the middle of studying something that isn’t quite ready for a full article, or when I’m in my kitchen or workshop in the middle of working on something that I wish to share– well, why not do so? Behold her: A MINOR THOUGHT.

Fig. 1. The ingredients of the unfairly delicious Jam Tea Cake,
from Beth Hensperger’s The Best Quick Breads (2000).
I rarely have sour cream in the house, and the weather has been disastrous recently (note: I am still fighting putting in my air conditioners, and I am still winning).
However, my local grocery store, Shaws, suddenly revealed a coupon for a free container of sour cream, and today is deeply pleasant in terms of both temperature and humidity. In addition, I have in possession a fresh jar of Bonne Maman plum jam– truly, the stars are aligning to bring me a cake I have not had in Some Time.
Really, only the fact that I feel like absolute ass prevents me from being as excited by this plan as I might otherwise be.
